This historic trail, one of Ireland’s most captivating pilgrim paths, is hugged by the coastline on one side and rugged mountain landscape on the other.
The walk which begins at Ventry Beach winds gently upward along the road and curves around to treat us to a backward look over Ventry Harbour and Skellig Micheál. Cosán na Naomh presents only one patch of steep terrain, leading from the summit of Reenconnell Hill – the path’s highest point at 274m.
Along the way you’ll pass ancient remnants of the area’s heritage from cross-inscribed stones to church ruins and beehive huts before it finishes at the base of Mount Brandon.
